An Associate Member is typically someone involved with the publishing and/or sale of PI fiction, or in some cases a writer who is actively writing PI fiction for sale but has not yet sold a PI story. Note that sales of mystery novels and short stories that do not have a PI as the protagonist do not qualify one for active membership. The story that has been sold must have a PI as the protagonist.
